This project is a multidisciplinary one coming mainly from the foreign languages department and the study of social science. Our partnership will be based in putting our students in contact to immigrant students in our same school and the immigrant population of our region, making them put in their shoes, know their stories and help them as much as we could to coexist in harmony and peace.

Working together we can promote common understanding and respect no matter our origin or background while trying to put everything in common on different small projects.
Through this project students will work with the help of new technologies and social networks using English for our communications and the activities to do. Our outcomes will be published in a web/blog exclusively created for the project, which will also be used as a communicative platform for the schools. We have thought that this could be a perfect opportunity for our students to exchange their ideas, problems and to express their opinions. We would like to use new technologies as a vehicle for such expressions. We are trying to promote immigrants integration to work values and transversal subjects through it. 2013 has been designated the European Year of Citizens. Its aim is to ensure that all EU citizens are aware of the rights available to them in a cross-border context by 2 virtue of their EU citizenship, to enable them to make informed decisions about whether to make use of their right to free movement and to facilitate the effective exercise of this right.
The number of citizens living in a Member State other than their own has grown considerably. But one in five Europeans finds working in another Member State difficult.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS PARTNERSHIP ARE THE FOLLOWING

  • To motivate students in the use of foreign languages, the integration of immigrant students at school and the importance of international parterships for their complete education as European citizens.
  • To use this project as a means of exchange of feelings, ideas and interests.
  • To show students“ background and cultural differences and similarities.
  • To express the problems that young people have to face nowadays independently of the place they live in.
  • To understand and analize those problems trying to differentiate the ones from each different country and making an introspective analysis to try and achieve a global perspective towards them.
  • To work together in the production of the map, the calendar, the play and the web/blog/social network.
  • To organize and manage team work and exchange impressions about work evolution.
  • To improve communicative skills and promote the use of ICT for a fluent communication between schools and students.
  • To give students the opportunity of having fun and enjoying along this partnership.
  • To create bonds with other teachers and students.
  • To make students self
  • conscious of their own identity while sharing it with people from other countries increasing pupils' tolerance and respect for other cultures.
  • To make school, parents and local institutions involved in our project though meetings, social networks and invite the school community to every activity which will take place in our school.

The aim of the project is to raise students' awareness of an ageing society in different communities looking at families and local communities. The project is planned for three years.

We want to achieve this aim through a variety of activities performed and partly planned by our students who would be lead and supported by their teachers.

Main activities which we want to perform are focused on the students as young people who are a part of ageing societies. The project will be aimed at different aspects of our life – students will explore different fields like literature (reading and writing about old people), arts and crafts (producing a touring exhibition of photos, sculptures and pictures of the elderly), history ( taking insight into history seen through old people“s eyes), music (gathering songs, creating music group of old and young), religious education/ ethics (talking about pain and death, cooperating with the local church), biology and physical education (study of human body in process of getting old, suggesting exercises for the elderly) and ICT (finding out about the relationship of older people and modern technology).

The main means of the participants' communication is English language and IC Technologies, esp. email and a working platform based on the Internet.
